Car bomb explodes outside U.S. Consulate in Iraq

Last Up-Dated Apr 17, 2015 1:04 PM EDTIRBIL, Iraq -- A car-bomb exploded outside the U.S. Consulate in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish autonomy zone. Iraqi police officers said three people were killed and five were wounded in the bombing. One American instructor and two Turkish citizens were among the injured, authorities said.U.S. authorities stated there were no American casualties or casualties among consulate employees or guards. An Associated Press reporter in the scene said the strong blast went off outside a cafe alongside the creating in Irbil's Ankawa community, placing several nearby cars on-fire. Soon later, the Islamic State-Of Iraq and Syria (IS-IS) claimed duty for the Irbil assault, noted the WEBSITE Intelligence Group, which monitors militant sites. Hiwa Afandi, a Kurdish authorities official, tweeted the blast was the consequence of a "unsuccessful" assault on the consulate, asserting that guards faced the bomber who detonated the apparatus before attaining the the consulate. They terrorists neglected againMeanwhile, in Baghdad, a string of bombings ripped via town on Friday, mostly targeting public spaces and killing at least 40 individuals, Iraqi authorities said.
