Crossovers carry Hyundai to October record

After 3 months in showrooms, Hyundai's redesigned Tucson is reaching its stride.
U.S. sales of the compact cross over double-D to 7,298 in Oct, narrowing its deficit to the Mazda Cx 5 and Subaru Forester and proposing Hyundai is poised for development in a section in which it H-AS historically fought. Tucson sales helped the Korean manufacturer into a wholesome month, with U.S. sales growing 20 per cent to a report 60,005 autos.
"The powerful interest in crossovers continued," Derrick Hatami, vice-president of nationwide sales at Hyundai Motor America, said in a statement. "Hyundai offers an extremely competitive CUV line which satisfies the requirements of the majority of consumers."
The compact underpinnings of the Tucson will shortly provide a ride to Hyundai's sib brand, Kia, which revealed a re designed model of the Sportage cross over in September at the Frankfurt autoshow.
Kia noted today that its U.S. sales rose 12% to 50,044 automobiles in Oct, led by powerful results for the boxy Soul hatchback and the Optima mid-size sedan.
Soul sales improved 15-percent to 12,246 and Optima sales grew 21% to 14,381, accounting for more than half of Kia's sales.
"Our skill to outpace the business with no advantage of a truck in our line talks volumes about consumers finding the new Kia," Michael Sprague, COO of Kia Motors America, said in a statement. Together with the redesigned 2016 Optima now arriving in showrooms, Michael included, Kia anticipates "a powerful end to the year."
Though Oct, Kia's U.S. sales have grown 7.4% from the year-ago period to 526,024 and Hyundai's sales have climbed 5% to 638,195.
