Driving may be a getaway from some of a job, and the pressures of life that some find relaxing or invigorating in itself. When traffic snags to the morning commute, or whenever you understand that door ding in the parking lot - - - driving positions one of the very stressful activities in our own lives - - yet far too frequently.
In hopes of educating how in vehicle technology will help facilitate driver frustration, the scientists are taking realtime and environmental information on a broad variety of general and driver specific variables. Traffic and road conditions are then associated to indications like pulse, skin conductance, facial / body indicators.
"We discovered that particular driving situations can become one of the very stressful activities in our own lives."
For example, founded on the indicators analyzed here, the investigators suggested that becoming sideswiped was about as trying as jumping out-of an aircraft.
The findings, which will finally be released in a journal, represent data accumulated in the Boston area over a period.
