European car-sales growth forecast to slow to 2 in 2016

BRUSSELS (Reuters) -- European auto-sales increase will probably slow to about 2 percent in 2016 after a sudden restoration in southern states a year ago, business organization ACEA.
ACEA President Dieter Zetsche, who's also Chief Executive Officer of Daimler, stated the industry was moving-in the correct path after several rocky years following the 2008 fiscal disaster, but that revenue remained below the 2007 pre-crisis peak of 15.5 million automobiles.
New passenger-car registrations in Europe grew 9.3% in 2015, with an increase of 2 1% in Spain and 16% in Italy and growth in the United Kingdom, France and Germany of between 5 and 7%.
"For 2016 we expect an infinitely more small sale boost for both passenger automobiles and industrial vehicles," Zetsche told a news conference on Thursday. "We assume vehicle sales to increase by around 2%, achieving nearly 14 million models."
The ACEA research, performed by IHS Automotive, finds some weakening in northern Europe, slowing increase in Spain, but nevertheless adequate rises in France, Germany and Italy.
Zetsche understood the business was hit by the Volkswagen scandal over automobile emissions, but stated this must not be confused with disagreement over closing the disparity involving the operation of automobiles in real life as well as in evaluation states.
"It isn't the same but I I am aware there's a huge confusion out there. We certainly need to find out clear regulation," he stated.
The European Parliament the other day postponed a planned vote on new automobile pollution limitations until the initial week of February.
