Ferdinand Piech objects to his nieces' appointments to VW board

Only days after stepping down as chairman of Vw's supervisory board, Ferdinand Piech has apparently objected to the appointment of his own niece to fill among the available seats.
After clashing with leader Martin Winterkorn, Piech and his spouse left the board on Saturday. Reports recommended he departed after covertly trying to muster opposition against Winterkorn, after an executive committee -- including Piech -- tried to quell the community controversy by officially declaring support for the embattled CEO.The board immediately picked Louise Kiesling, Piech's niece having a foundation in layout, and 3 4-year old Julia Kuhn-Piech, a real estate professional who's an associate of the supervisory board of commercial-vehicle manufacturing company GUY.Despite your family links, Piech has claimed the seats should happen to be offered to to 2 executives with increased expertise in related sectors, specifically former Ford executive Wolfgang Reitzle and former Siemens board member Brigitte Ederer, in accordance with a Bild report. Piech's next move is uncertain, though Reuters proposes the appointments may be challenged in court. The problem will probably inspire a dynamic assembly when VW Group investors gather for their annual meeting on May 5. Read Source
