First drive of the latest Volvo S60 T5 Drive-E

For this model year, Volvo has made decision to update its S60 even in spite of no one expected that.

Just in 2011 the new S60 of the second generation was introduced; however, this time, the auto manufacturer is working on updating of the next S60 equipped with the Drive-E powertrain as a car of 2015 model year.

The novelty will be offered with T5 and T6 badges. The 2015 S60 T5 will be equipped with the five-cylinder engine, which is able to produce the output of 240 horsepower and the torque of 258 lb-ft. While, the S60 T6 version will get the six-cylinder powertrain producing the output of 302 horsepower and the torque of 295 lb-ft as well.
Both powertrains will work with the eight-speed automatic Geartronic gearbox with the manual shifting capability also.

The Volvo S60 of 2015 model year has updated with some important technical features such as the Park assist pilot, technology pack, lane keeping assistance, ECO climate and coast; the novelty will also get the start/stop engine technology, which is available in most modern vehicles.

The interior includes the black and white trim; there is the premium sound system Harmon Kardon, which is offered in the special Premium fishing as well. Moreover, the novelty will be offered in the Sporty pack, which includes the paddle shifters and sporty 19-inch wheels.

According to Volvo, the novelty as a new sedan of middle size will meet the competition with the BMW 5 and 3-series and Audi A4 and A6 as well.

Traditionally, the Volvo S60 is available only with front-wheel-drive as much as the updated model, but the all-wheel-drive may be offered as an optional feature.
What about the fuel consumption, the novelty consumes 25 mpg in a city, 37 mpg on highways and 29 in the combined mode.

Now, some details about pricing. the carmaker is planning to sell the car starting from 34,000 dollars, certainly, it depends on the pack and optional feature.

The novelty will be also available in the Platinum pack, which includes many standard equipment, which we may find in other packs, but also dual xenon headlights, 17-inch wheels etc.

Meanwhile, the Sports pack is offered for 45,425 dollars.
