International Engine of the Year Awards 2013
A jury consisted of 87 automotive journalists from throughout the world has recently chosen the best engines for the annual "International Engine of-the Year" award. The last year, too as best engine in 2013, was named the 3 cylinder turbo Ford Ecoboost with volume of 999 cm3. The contest results were recently declared in the International Exhibition Engine Expo in Stuttgart, Germany.
Along with the top engine, some best versions representing individual classes were picked as well. The 1.4 liter TSI Volkswagen was chosen as the most effective new motor. That one has lately obtained a cylinder shutdown system. Back in 2011 its pure petrol variant became the finest in the primary competitors. Another great nomination, the greatest sports engine of the full year, was directed at the 6.3 liter V12 designed by Ferrari Company. This became the finest engine in its class.
The top engines are chosen by juries from versions with different capacities and volumes. In class up to 1 liter Ecoboost has naturally succeeded. Volkswagen TSI was the victor in the "from 1 to 1.4" liters class.
This contest is held since 1999. It is fascinating the winners of this year don't comprise a hybrid power plants, along with single diesel motor. Additionally, there are no engines created by Chinese or Korean manufacturers. The top Asian engine became the 2.2 liter diesel Skyactiv Mazda with another place in its class.

The Global Engine of the Year is an annual contest for automotive industry internal combustion engines, judged by a panel of car journalists from all over the planet. It's organised by the UK's largest technical motoring, aerospace and traffic management publication company - UKIP Media and Events Automotive Magazines, part of UKIP Media and Events Ltd. The contest was commenced in 1999.
