LA preview: 2015 Toyota Prius c
Toyota has traveled to the Los Angeles Motor Show to introduce the updated 2015 Prius c.
Visually, the 2015 Prius c stands out from the 2014 model thanks to a revised front fascia with sharp LED headlights, a large hexagonal radiator grille and new fog lights. The updates continue out back with redesigned tail lights, while the expected array of new paint colors and wheel designs round out the modifications.Toyota promises the 2015 Prius c's cabin is built with noticeably better materials. The changes include revised switchgear on the center console, new air vents and the latest generation of Toyota's touch screen-based Entune infotainment system. Toyota has not made any mechanical changes to the Prius c. The pint-sized hatchback carries on with a gasoline-electric hybrid drivetrain consisting of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 73 horsepower and 82 lb-ft. of torque and a compact electric motor powered by a nickel-metal battery pack. Together, the two power sources send 99 horsepower to the front wheels via a CVT.The Prius c returns 53 mpg in the city, 46 mpg on the highway and 50 mpg in a combined cycle, making it one of the most efficient new cars on the market today. Following its debut in Los Angeles, the 2015 Toyota Prius c will go on sale across the nation before the end of the year. Pricing information will be published closer to its on-sale date.
