Man who stole NASCAR Sprint Cup car sentenced
2025
John Terry stole a truck, trailer and NASCAR Sprint Cup vehicle from Group X-TREME Racing earlier in 2013.
On February 27th of this year, the truck, trailer, and above all, the race-car that belonged to Group X-TREME Racing was stolen from a parking-lot of a Morrow, Georgia resort. They were thus compelled to pull away in the Cup race at Atlanta that weekend.
John Milton Terry lately pleaded guilty to the larceny and was sentenced to 10 years probation and must spend $1,000 in fines.
The group, owned by Jonathan Cohen, tried a couple of races following the event with Travis Kvapil in the No. 44, but neglected to make the display each time. At Martinsville, they pulled away in the race without an effort and never have competed since, lately tweeting "you-can't imagine how awful this changed this race group. See you shortly."
