Mercedes revealed its new GLC
Most likely, Mercedes is finishing working on its GLK-class of the next generation soon. As we may notice, the novelty may get not only a redesigned appearance but also a new name as well.
The auto manufacturer is planning to rename some models and according to that brand’s strategy, the current GLK will be renamed to the GLC-class as well.
But also, besides the renaming, the novelty will be slightly bigger than the GLK-class. The new GLC will get a wider track and longer wheelbase.
Moreover, the carmaker takes care to increase space and comfort inside as much as dynamics characteristics. After these updates, the GLC will be able to meet the competition with Audi Q5 and BMW X3 as well.
Other technical features will be as well as the recently updated C-class of 2015 model year.
The current C-class is assembled at the brand’s plant in the U.S. Probably, the new GLC will be produced there.
According to the automaker, the novelty will be also available in the right-hand-drive configurations for auto markets Australia, India, Japan and the U.K., respectively.
The basic version of the GLC will be equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine borrowed from the C300 of 2015 model year. The basic powertrain is able to produce the output of 241 horsepower and the torque of 273 lb-ft. In addition, the novelty will be offered with 2.1-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which is used in the present GLK. And the most powerful version will be equipped with the 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine, issuing the output of 329 horsepower and the torque of 354 lb-ft.
Meanwhile, we are also expecting the AMG and plug-in hybrid versions.
The renewed GLC will be officially presented at the end of this year, and soon after it comes on the auto market as a car of a 2016 model year.
