New updates for the Mini Cooper Countryman of 2017 model year
The present version of the Mini Cooper Countryman has been already upgraded for the next model year. However, currently, we have noticed testing of a new prototype. And now, we are happy to share new details about a compact crossover of the next generation.
According to the prototype, the future novelty looks more rugged than the current Countryman, probably, inside there is more spacious.
Certainly, the novelty is based on the platform UKL, which is used in the version of the MINI hard top of 2014 model year and the 2015 Mini Copper with five doors. Bu the way, that UKL platform is also used in the 2-series Active Tourer of BMW and is planned to be used in the BMW X1 of the next generation.
The basic variant comes with the front-wheel drive, but the novelty will be also available with the brand’s all-wheel-drive system ALL4 that is offered as an optional feature. In addition, the carmaker plans to produce other versions such as John Cooper Works and the Cooper S Countryman equipped with the ALL4 system.
The basic variant of the novelty is equipped with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit, other variants JCW and Cooper S come with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain. The turbocharged engines are also available. The transmission is offered as the six-speed automatic and six-speed manual gearboxes.
The new safety options include the new systems informing speed limit, pedestrian warning system, collision warnings, and the head-up display as well.
Currently, the Mini family includes the five-door version and the hardtop as well. The upcoming year we will see the new Clubman, in 2016, the Countryman will come as the car of 2017 model year. Moreover, the carmaker is going to launch a new sporty version to replace Roadster and Coupe versions.
