Nissan CEO promised to release a sports car for the youth.
At the Detroit Moto Show Executive Vice President of Nissan Andy Palmer confirmed the rumors about the forthcoming introduction a small sports car which will be on the step lower of the 370Z family as reported GoMotors. According to him the new vehicle will not leave anyone indifferent to it. “You either love it or hate.”- promised Palmer.
Although the first thought was the models Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ, it is not their direct competitor. Nissan says it will be a car of a different type directed at young audience. Perhaps some model will get electric motor or plug-in-hybrid system.
Palmer promised to show a prototype of new vehicle during this year. Meanwhile, it is not a first time when Nissan has released a compact sports car. For example, in 2006 Nissan showed a concept car Urge which was a presage of a serial vehicle. In 2011 a concept sports car Esflow debuted, equipped with the propulsion of electric car Leaf.
Development of a compact sports car is occupied by the Japanese and Chinese chapters of Nissan. The latter one is responsible for the design of a model and preparation of technical documentation.
