Panamera for 2017 model year

Porsche is working hard to develop the second generation of its popular Panamera model. We have already noticed a few prototypes as well.

We all are expecting the new Panamera to appear on the auto market by 2016; however, most likely, the novelty comes as a car of 2017 model year then.
As we may notice in the prototype, the novelty will have a little bit sportier shape than the present variant has.

Moreover, as we could see the future novelty has become longer and wider than the previous Panamera. Also, the new model has an extended back wing. We are expecting styling borrowed from the Panamera Sport Turismo concept car, presented in 2012.

The novelty is based on the new modular platform MSB (Modularer Standardantrieb-Baukasten). That platform was developed by the Volkswagen Group. The platform is good enough because it may be equipped with any powertrains and wheel-drives as well. By the way, the next Bentley Continental and Flying Spur are planned to be built on its platform.

The novelty will be lighter but stiffer than the previous model because the MSB platform is made of lightweight and rigid materials such aluminum, some composites and high-strength steel. The new Panamera model will weigh 200 pounds less than the current version.

The 2017 Panamera will be equipped with different powertrains including a few totally new engines. The current version of the Panamera S is equipped with the V6 twin turbocharged unit. The Turbo and GTS versions are equipped with the V8 powertrain. In addition, the auto manufacturer also plans to launch a plug-in hybrid variant.

We will keep you informed about next developing of the next generation of Panamera. Moreover, the carmaker is working on its new smaller sedan, which may be named the “Pajun” –“the Panamera Junior”. That novelty will not appear until 2018 or even 2019 model year.
