Pixar shows how Lightning McQueen runs in new exhibit

LA -- Pixar is unlocking just how Lightning McQueen runs in a fresh museum display. The cartoon studio is showing off what is beneath the the "Autos" character's alloy body in the recently passed Petersen Automotive Museum.The display includes a lifesize variation of Lightning McQueen, first artwork by "Automobiles" production designer Bob Pauley and several shows with realworld performances of the the type motor, suspension along with other working components. Pixar teamed with the Petersen to produce its first museum display to educate families about the interworking of cars.

How will kids feel about viewing a dissected performance of the beloved animated racecar voiced by Owen Wilson?"It was difficult," stated Jay Ward, creative director of the "Autos" franchise. "We were really cautious about not displaying a cutaway of McQueen. For most of the components, we are just showing vignettes. We did not need the the type head open or something like that. It's a living character who is actually a vehicle, but if you see the movies and these figures fly-through the air, all that things is under there."Ward stated the creators at Pixar wished to plot an display which was both informative and entertaining but did not feel like a re-hash of the "Automobiles"-themed property at Disney's California Adventure theme-park in Anaheim, Ca.

"I did not need this room to feel like a preschool," stated Ward throughout a Thursday preview. "I did not need it to feel like a spot where you'd simply lose your children away. I needed it to be spot where the entire family can participate. We came up with some thing where it is possible to hopefully walk from it and feel as if you discovered how your automobile runs."The display also has an augmented reality encounter expressed by "Automobiles" celebrities that drives visitors throughout the 2nd floor of the museum, which features displays on bikes, hotrods and choice power. Besides the "Autos" injection, the Petersen got a $90 million makeover that added a fresh floor of exhibit space, steel decoration outside and an upscale eatery, along with several "Forza motor sport 6" driving simulator stations and automobiles showcased in movies and television programs, including rides from "Bat Man," ''Spectre" and "Magnum P.I."The up-to-date Petersen Automotive Museum re-opens to the public Dec. 7.
