Porsche 918 Spyder sells out
As expected, Porsche has confirmed that all of its 918 Spyder supercars have been called for.
Only 918 examples will be built, each commanding approximately $850,000. The US is the model's largest market, accounting for nearly a third of the overall allocation."I was always convinced we'd sell out, and what is most satisfying is that the sales have accelerated as reviews confirmed the car is everything we promised it would be," Porsche's R&D head, Wolfgang Hatz, told Autocar. The last unit was reserved in November, but the company has established a waiting list in case any of the confirmed buyers back out before delivery.Hatz promises a successor will eventually arrive on the market, but "not immediately." In the meantime, Porsche will take what it has learned from the 918 and apply that knowledge to other products.
