Some first pictures of a prototype of the Infiniti Q30
Currently, the Infiniti auto manufacturer has the Q40 as the entry-level car, which is a successor of the previous G37, but was rebadged. The Q lineup includes two other compact vehicles, they are Q30 and QX30.
The prototype of the future Q30 is a hatchback model, which was presented as a concept earlier. The QX30 is planned to be a crossover variant of the Q30 as well.
Both novelties are based on the compact platform MFA developed by Mercedes. The Infiniti Q30 is a version of the A class while the QX30 is a variant of the GLA-class as well.
In spite of both car are focused on the European auto market, they are also planned to be offered in the U.S. to compete with the cars of the segment of premium compact vehicles such as BMW hatchback of the 1-series and Audi A3.
The auto manufacturer says the Q30 will not be a common hatchback but also it will include some design elements of both crossover and coupe. Currently, the prototype of the future novelty has almost the final design, which we will see in a model.
Both QX30 and Q30 will be equipped with the four-cylinder powertrains including gasoline and diesel units. However, the carmaker has already the U.S. customers will be offered only gasoline versions.
The auto manufacturer plans to begin the Q30 production at the British plant of Nissan in Sunderland in the middle of the next year. Soon after, there will be the QX30 production there too. There, both novelties are expected to be also launched for export.
Most likely, the auto manufacturer will officially present the novelties the upcoming year later. The selling is planned on 2016.
