The coolest “Mercedes” will get the old-fashion style
An elegant roadster Mercedes-Benz 300 SC 1955 will be reborn - but only a single vehicle. It will be constructed on Mercedes SLS AMG base in the Gullwing America studio by the order of a customer from the Eastern Europe.
Cars of 300 series with code W188 were considered the most prestigious and sports of Mercedes-Benz in the fifties of the last century. Moreover, a roadster 300SC assembled manually was one of the most luxurious open cars in the world but its production was no more than a hundred.
The Gullwing America studio specializes in the construction of copies of famous models in the past but using the modern power plant base. For example for the revival of the roadster of 1955 tuners are going to use a platform of the open SLS AMG putting it into a new body. The aluminum “suit” for the future retro supercar will be also made by hand; however, it will not be an absolute copy of the half a century-aged car.
Retro car will be provided by a modified grille, modern headlights and upgraded rear spoiler required by the design platform and safety considerations. In addition, the sports car will get a removable hard top, an adjustable suspension, new wheels and a unique exhaust system. Designers are sure that all innovations will make the car be an exclusive vehicle.
Gullwing America does not report about either the dynamics of the future retro automobile or the cost of the project. Standard Roadster Mercedes SLS AMG has 571 hp and accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
