The Nhtsa has started an investigation in to a power issue using the 2012 Volkswagen Passat and CC.
The bureau has obtained at least nine charges alleging obvious failure of the steering column control module, which links to the car 's electric system by means of a coil ribbon cable."A failure of the SCCM outcomes in a lack of connectivity of the controls electrical products to the remaining car, possibly impacting the operation of the driver-side airbag, along with another steering wheel mounted parts," the bureau notes. "If an automobile having a unsuccessful SCCM were to participate in an accident of sufficient severity to demand installation, the driver air-bag might not set up correctly. "Some proprietors report an audible sound in the steering column when the failure happens, associated with an air-bag warning light on the dashboard. The bureau could take several months to finish the preliminary investigation before contemplating an engineering evaluation and possibly pushing to get an official recall. Picture by Mark Elias.
