VW names new rd, sales, design, production and product chiefs

MUNCHEN -- Vw today named five new leaders because of its development, revenue, layout, creation and merchandise departments as the automaker reconstructs its executive positions after the turmoil spurred by an discharges cheating scandal.
The execs may have duties that cover-all team manufacturers in the Volkswagen, Skoda and Skoda massmarket marques to the Audi, Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini high-end components.

• Ulrich Eichhorn will direct research development. Eichorn, 54, was Bentley's engineering leader until 2012 when he become head of the VDA German business association. He replaces Ulrich Hackenberg, who leave earlier this month.
• Fred Kappler will assume duty for team revenue. Kappler, 5 7, has held important functions using the VW brand, Volkswagen's FAW China JV component and at Skoda. He was lately in-charge of the organization 's aftermarket department. Kappler replaces Christian Klingler who left Volkswagen in September.
• Michael Mauer will head team style. Mauer, 5 3, retains his present job as head of Porsche style. Mauer worked for Mercedes Benz, Saab and General Motors Europe before he was named Porsche design leader in 2004. He succeeds Walter de Silva who retired last month.
• Wolfram Thomas will take-charge of team creation. Thomas, 59, has been with Volkswagen for 3-5 years, keeping essential generation places in the VW brand, VW light automobiles and Seat. He's now head of environment, energy and new business places. Thomas takes Volkswagen's top creation occupation that is empty since Michael Macht left in 2014.
• Ralf-Gerhard Willner will have duty on the other side of the group for goods and for the auto-maker modular designs. He's now head of vehicle theories at Audi.VW stated the appointments are a part of its own attempts to help make the auto-maker more stream-lined in the aftermath of its own emissions rigging disaster. The scandal resulted in the resignation of long-time CEO Martin Winterkorn, who had been replaced by Matthias Mueller.
"These structural modifications pace up the decision making procedure, decrease complexity and improve efficacy, Mueller said in a statement announcing the appointments.
How many top administrators reporting directly to Mueller continues to be nearly halved, Volkswagen said.
