VW refuses to offer emissions scandal compensation in Europe

BRUSSELS (Reuters) -- Volkswagen stated there were no reasons to reproduce in Europe a settlement plan it plans for US drivers influenced by its diesel emissions scandal, rejecting a desire from the Eu's business commissioner.

The European Commission stated in another statement following the assembly: "Commissioner Bienkowska encouraged the group once more to reflect on acceptable strategies to to pay customers."
"She repeated her apparent perspective that EU consumers ought to be treated in exactly the same manner as U.S. clients. Mr Mueller consented to return to the Commissioner on the purposes discussed," the declaration mentioned.
