Volkswagen Design Vision GTI Concept
People have been tweaking, tuning, and altering the Volkswagen GTI essentially since the first case rolled off the line in-the late 1970s. In 1979, Hannover based merchant Nordstadt place a widened Golf body over the chassis of the Porsche 928. Four years later, Swiss coachbuilder Sbarro turned a Golf into a monster powered by a 330hp Porsche 930 Turbo engine. Sbarro also place a 310hp Porsche 928 S engine under-the hood of a GTI, the same year. Wrthersee brings the Design Vision GTI, this year.
This GTI would put shame to some other vehicle in the galaxy - - - if it were really to be assembled, of course. Volkswagen has jammed a 3.0 liter VR6 under the hood, force fed by a couple of turbochargers to create a whopping 503 hp. Up to 413 lb ft of torque is carried to all four wheels through a DSG dual clutch automatic transmission. There's some importance in the selection of motor.
Outside, the Design Vision GTI is more than just a nod to the tuner community. The section has pulled the door sills and C pillars out and widened the course to adapt 275 rear and 235 front tires, all on bespoke 20inch wheels, to reach an additional sporty appearance. The result is broader than the standard GTI by 2.8 inches, lower by 2.2 inches, and really shorter by 0.6 inch, due to a brand new back fender. Flat elements on the front and rear bumpers accentuate the low, broad look of the automobile, as well as as a complex edition of the look that's so coveted by the community the new headlights function.
There's a reason this Wrthersee notion is known as Design Vision GTI, says Bischoff: "My team was asked to give a breathtaking glimpse at the potential of the GTI." With a 503 hp VR6, who needs an engine from Porsche?
