Volkswagen has revealed the Passat GTE before the Paris auto show
Recently, Volkswagen has presented its new plug-in hybrid version of the Passat, which is also named the Passat GTE.
The index “GTE” means “grand Touring Electric. The new Passat is built on the platform MQB as the latest Golf GTE. The novelty is equipped with the 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, issuing 154 horsepower and the electric motor, which has the output of 113 horsepower. In total, the hybrid system makes 215 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. That unit works together with the six-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox.
The introduced model has the front-wheel-drive only. The plug-in hybrid Passat is able to move about 31 miles electric only.
The exterior includes some sports elements, 17-inch eight-spoke alloy wheels, a new grille with the blue accents and the distinct front bumper.
The technical features are offered with special soft for the hybrid car such as the zero emission statistics, charging time e-manager, energy flow display and the driving range monitor.
The novelty comes on sale on the European market next year, but the U.S. customers will have an opportunity to buy the new Passat GTE by 2016.
