The future C-class is based on the MRA platform that is also used in cars of E and S classes. This platform has a rear-wheel drive as standard. The MRA platform is made of aluminum and high-strength steels, which make a vehicle to be harder and safer. Besides, owing to this platform the car became lighter by 220 pounds.
The carmaker may brag of some equipment of this prototype like a new air suspension, an advanced active braking system and monitoring systems surrounded the car.
Now we tell you about powertrains, which will be used in the new C-class. The basic version will be equipped with a 1.8-liter V6 turbocharged engine. Probably, the carmaker will remain a V6 for a diesel model.
Besides, the auto manufacturer will be ready to offer a C-class hybrid that will get a powertrain consists of a four-cylinder gasoline engine and the electric motor.
There also will be the AMG model equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 twin turbocharged engine, which can produce the output of 450 horsepower.
There is every likelihood that the new C-class will have eight and nine-speed gearboxes.
According to some information, the C-class will be launched at the Tuscaloosa plant. A convertible that supplement current coupe and wagon models will add the renewed C-class.
The novelty is a model of 2015 and planned to come on sale next autumn.
