BMW is preparing to launch its new hybrid model of 2-Series. The novelty is planned to be front-wheel-drive vehicle; besides, we has already known a future name of this model –the carmaker is in favour of a name as “Active hybrid Tourer”.
The future hybrid will be based on the new brand’s platform UKL that is used in the latest Mini Cooper.
This hybrid concept car will be equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and the electric motor, which will be able to produce the output of 190 horsepower in combination. This model will accelerate from 0 mph to 60 mph just in 8 seconds; the maximum speed of the Active hybrid Tourer is expected to be 124 mph. In addition, the auto manufacturer says this concept is able to drive about 18 miles on electricity only.
The future model of 2-Series has five doors and a body as the MPV has. Moreover, the auto manufacturer plans to produce this Active Tourer in seven-seat variant but probably not a hybrid vehicle.
Unfortunately, we will know everything according to this novelty not earlier than in March at the Geneva show.
Then the new hybrid of BMW will come on sale on the European auto market this summer. But the American customers will see the novelty in the U.S. dealer rooms in 2015.
