A new Golf R wagon version
3218
Recently we have known that Volkswagen is testing its new Golf R in a wagon version at the Nürburgring track in Germany. This novelty is built on the latest Golf SportWagen that has been already confirmed for selling. However, the R wagon might be not brought to the local market.
The Golf R gets a similar engine to the Golf R hatchback –the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo unit, which produces the output of 290 horsepower with the torque of 280 lb-ft. That powertrain is able to accelerate the novelty from 0 mph to 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds. The standard gearbox is available in the six-speed manual and the six-speed DSG one with dual-clutch. Probably the novelty will be offered with standard bran’s 4MOTION four-wheel-drive system.
Significant updates in the car’s exterior include the new aggressive bumpers, a lower suspension, 18-inch wheels in the Cadiz’s style and the twin exhaust pipes.
The interior includes new changes such as the new leather trim, sports seats and some carbon accents inside.
The auto manufacturer is going to bring the Golf R wagon to the European market by the upcoming year at the same time as the Golf R Variant. By the way, the Golf SportWagen is sold in Europe under a name of the Golf R Variant.
Moreover, the carmaker is also working on development of the more powerful variant of the new Golf version; its concept was presented in Beijing this year.
