Audi’s autonomous concept car at the 2015 CES
Currently, autonomous vehicles are still the subject No.1 in the world. Due to this trend, this week at the annual Consumer electronics show, Audi plans to present its first autonomous car, which named the A7.
The autonomous model is based on the grand coupe Prologue concept, which is also influenced by the A8 sedan of the next generation that is expected on the auto market next year.
The autonomous Prologue concept is equipped with the 3D video camera, ultrasound sensors and the laser scanner. All these technologies allow driving a car autonomously.
The autonomous model comes close to the A8. Certainly, now we may think not about the totally full autonomous driving but the car will be able “to do by itself” to park, crawl in traffic and handle on highways in some situations. However, even that car needs a drive with license in.
What about a powertrain, the autonomous novelty will be equipped with a hybrid system, which consists of the 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged engine and the electric motor. The total output of that powertrain is 667 horsepower and the torque of 701 lb-ft. The hybrid powertrain will work with the eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Inside, the novelty will be also equipped with all standard technical features and systems introduced in latest Audi’s models including the brand’s connectivity technologies and the new infotainment system. Moreover, the Prologue will get the newest driver assist systems, which will be introduced in the Q7 of 2016 model year.
