BMW plans to bring its renewed X5 e-drive concept to New York.
It is known the German auto manufacturer is developing its new X5 SUV hybrid, which prototype we might noticed then. However, the BMW carmaker does not plan to bring the plug-in SUV into production in the near future. Meanwhile, at the same time, the auto manufacturer is working on its new eco SUV concept that will be planned to be presented at the show in New York this month.
We would like to remind you that the first time the BMW introduced its e-drive SUV concept in Frankfurt last year. But now the carmaker approved its concept was finished and ready to be introduced at one of the largest business cities in the world.
What about a powertrain of the concept; the BMW brand had made decision to equip its new eco SUV with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and the electric motor. The e-drive X5 is still an all-wheel-drive model but it is also able to drive a short distance when electrically powered.
The 2.0-liter unit has the power of 245 horsepower while the electric motor produces the output of nearby 95 horsepower.
Owing to this combined powertrain, the car is able to accelerate from 0 mph to 60 mph just in 7.0 seconds. Also due to hybrid powertrain, the fuel consumption decreased to 61.8 mpg when any modes driving.
Only electrical powered car can drive 20 miles with the maximum speed of 75 mph.
