David Letterman's professed love for automobiles might not be on a level with that of his former late night Television competition, Jay Leno. But Letterman, whose closing "Late Show" airs Wednesday evening, is a significant car buff, maintaining his set concealed away, a CBS spokesman states.
And Letterman -- whose Top Checklist is a nightly section -- featured lots of automotive follies during his 22 seasons as host of the CBS display.
In honor of his good-bye show, we count-down his top 10 automotive minutes.10. Dave goes on a fastfood automobile excursion with Zsa Zsa Gabor.
Letterman drives around La stuffing the performer with fastfood. Unavoidable hilarity ensues.

Honorable mention: "Oh rocket vehicle also quickly. No brakes. Wah. Wah. Wah. Wah."
1. Dave has fun having a car.
The hands down victor is Letterman's day of high-jinks with a 1972 Buick Centurion convertible in this 1995 sketch. Letterman rides the raise in the garage, chugs motor oil and fills his convertible with Taco Bell tacos. What more would you need?
Highlight: "Do not you believe it is sort of strange that I am licking motor oil off the dip-stick?"
Honorable mention: "Focus citizens of La: we've tacos."
