First photos of this year of the newest Opel Astra
Just at the beginning of this year, we have noticed a prototype, which is expected to become a new Opel Astra that is planned to be launched by the end of 2015. The novelty is shown as a hatchback, but, certainly, it will be available in coupe GTC, wagon Sports Tourer and sedan also.
The new Opel Astra is relative to the latest Chevrolet Cruze of the next generation.
As you may know, the previous generation of that model was briefly sold. Although, the auto manufacturer hopes to increase popularity of the novelty by basing it on the Buick Verano, which has been already offered in its next generation.
The Opel Astra is sold as the Vauxhall in the U.K., and as the Holden on the Australian auto market.
It is too early talking about the design and style of the future novelty. The Mark Adams’s deigning team is working on it, who has also worked on the Buick design as well. We even have no idea what to expect. Really.
The new Astra will be equipped with the new generation of the General Motor’s engine of the Ecotec family. The powertrain will be available in three-cylinder and four-cylinder versions both diesel and gasoline variants. Moreover, the carmaker is planning to present the novelty in a hybrid and high-performance OPC versions.
Probably, the new Astra will be officially introduced at the show in Frankfurt this year. Note, that model is also a part of the Opel’s strategy DRIVE! 2022 that consists 27 new models and 17 new powertrains launched by 2018.
By the way, among other new models planned to be presented by the automaker, there will be an updated subcompact Corsa, the next generation of the middle-sized Insignia and a new middle-sized crossover.
