Lotus Offers Exige and Elise Special Editions—But Not to Americans
Things are becoming more active with Lotus declaring two new iterations of the evergreen Elise/Exige, at Hethel.
It is not unfair to mention the British sports car manufacturer continues to be selling more sizzle than steak lately. Overall sales are on an upward trajectory, but they are still far a year that CEO Jean-Marc Gales says will make the business profitable. And with the Evora 400 that was shown being a facelift that is hefty as opposed to an all-new auto, the brand will need to work difficult to compete with more modern competitors. When Gales were interviewed by us he declared that he needs more high-priced versions to be built by Lotus, a point born out from the range-topping nature of both new automobiles.
The Exige S Club Racer is lighter in relation to the present Exige S, with most of the 33 pounds of saved the effect of a lightweight battery to mass. The 2560-pound Club Racer additionally gets various trim improvements along with a three-mode traction control system. It is still not 112 pounds lighter compared to stripped, track-spec Exige S Cup that Lotus sells in Europe.
For its part, the Elise 20th Anniversary does the same trick but using a cloth roof. It is in line with the Elise S Club Racer and shares the same mechanical package, but it has a range of the newest traction control system as well as new colours.
