Man survives 8-story fall onto car in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO -- A man was seriously injured after falling from the eighth story of a building and landing onto a car in San Francisco's financial district Friday morning, fire officials said.CBS San Francisco reports that details were still unclear but police received a call at 10 a.m. that a man, possibly a window washer, had fallen from an 11-story building on California Street near Montgomery Street and landed on onto a car that was driving through.The station reports that the man was adjusting the cables of his washing platform when he fell.The man was transported to a hospital and while the driver in the vehicle was uninjured.Sgt. Danielle Newman with the San Francisco Police Department said that pedestrians below in the busy Financial District were very lucky to have escaped injury and that the window washer was lucky to have fallen on the car because it broke his fall.The area has been closed to traffic.Last week in New York, two window washers, who became trapped on a scaffold near the 68th floor of One World Trade Center, were rescued and brought to safety.
