Maserati's global marketing chief Chehab resigns
The Motor City -- Saad Chehab, Maserati's international chief marketing officer, has stepped down after almost two years in the place.
Chehab, 4-8, stepped down Sunday for private motives, based on a source familiar with the transfer.
Chehab joined fiatchrysler Automobiles' high-end brand in November 2013 after serving as head of the Chrysler and Lancia brands and manager of promotion and brand promotion for Chrysler Group.
At Maserati, Chehab was tasked with all the work of growing the little brand internationally. In 2014, Chehab used the widely viewed American football tournament match, the Super Bowl, to bring focus to Maserati's new entry level sedan, the Ghibli, using a popular advertisement called "Strike."
In bringing Chehab to Maserati, FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne had stated he needed a larger part for Maserati internationally. FCA is investing more than $1.3 billion to enlarge Maserati's product variety to six versions, including the midsized Ghibli sedan and the Levante SUV.
Chehab, a 2012 Automotive information all star, was broadly credited as the innovative power behind Chrysler's tremendously successful Super Bowl advertisements in 2011 and 2012 featuring Eminem and Clint Eastwood. Chehab was born in Lebanon.
As head of the Chrysler manufacturer, Chehab adopted the "Imported from The Motor City" tagline and utilized it to market special versions of Chrysler automobiles.
Chehab was tempted to Chrysler last year after serving as manager of creative solutions at Ford Motor Co.
