The new luxury Bentley is likely to result in the employment of 1000 people in the UK. It is likely that the car will be based on the EXP 9F concept car that was displayed at a selection of car shows in 2012. Bentley have released a vague sketch of the car which is just a few black pen marks and really gives nothing away at all.
Bentley will be investing £800m in tots Crewe headquarters in order that it can develop this SUV, that will compete with Range Rover, Audi and Porsche.
Initially Volkswagen, who own the Bentley chain, were going to make the care in Slovakia, where other SUV’s are built for the company, but the British government lobbied for them to be built in the UK and succeeded. This means that there will be many job opportunities in the country as well as opportunities for apprentices to train.
Martin Winterkorn, The Chairman of Volkswagen explained that the UK was a competitive location for the production of the cars. He also said that the Bentley will be successful, powerful and exclusive – a true Bentley. This will be the fourth Bentley model available and will join the Continental GT, Mulsanne and Flying Spur. It is planned to be ready to go on sale in 2016.
