Nissan explains why its GT-R LM Nismo is FWD [Video]

Nissan has released a brand new video describing why it determined to go fwd with its newest gt r LM Nismo racecar.
When Nissan declared earlier this year that it intended to assault the famous 24 Hours of Lemans using a front-wheel-drive racer, several were left scratching their heads; all through history the vast bulk of cars have relied on rear-wheel-drive to optimize managing. As Nissan describes it, FWD afforded some packaging edges on the typical RWD set up. The gt r LM Nismo works on the long hood, which enabled engineers to increase the vehicle 's aerodynamics, netting better balance and fuel-economy. By putting the engine on the drive wheels, Nissan was also in a position to offer the GTR LM Nismo added hold for speed up. Nissan grants that FWD does make the auto understeer more than its RWD counterparts, but the auto-maker managed to beat that pitfall with traction-control direction and especially tuned aerodynamics. It remains to be seen in the event the exceptional layout can help Nissan achieve the podium on race-day, but the firm did have success using a front-wheel-drive racer in the late 1990s. Read Source
