Nissan nearly killed the Maxima
Nissan's all-new Maxima sedan will shortly arrive on dealer lots, but the eighth-era of the four door sports-car was almost crushed three years past.
Even though the Maxima is Nissan's longest-running nameplate within the United States -- having been in constant production since 1981 -- the fortune of the big sedan was really much up-in-the-air throughout the first section of 2012. At that time Nissan was concentrating its resources on building smaller autos with superior fuel economy, leaving the big and sporty Maxima on the exterior looking in."lots of individuals presume it was a forgone conclusion that, of program we are going to continue with another Maxima," Pierre Loing, vice-president of North American merchandise planning for Nissan, told Automotive Information. "But honestly, the forgone conclusion at at the time was that there wouldn't be still another Maxima."Nissan finally saved the Maxima because of its name recognition (Loing states the Maxima loves better name knowledge in relation to the Nissan brand it self) and the way it can keep Nissan customers from bound to superior brands like BMW and Acura. It remains to be noticed if Nissan's risk on the newest Maxima will pay off, but we have to learn soon enough -- the eighth-era is planned to really go on sale nationally on June 2.
