The successor of the LR2 will come in 2016
The auto manufacturer is ready to present its renewed version of the LR2, which gets redesigned luxury interior and updated powertrain including four-cylinder turbocharged engine.
The novelty is not a direct successor that will be named the same; but according to some information, the updated LR2 is planned to be named as the “Discovery Sport”.
As you remember, the Discovery cars family is focused on leisure-oriented family people preferring to spend time together and travelling a lot. While the Defender cars family is oriented to hardcore activities.
The Discovery Sport is built on the platform of the Evoque model using LR-MS. However, the carmaker endeavors to improve this platform by updating over 90 per cent of the LR-MS. Using aluminum and lightweight materials has allowed reducing the car’s weight.
This novelty is larger than the Evoque model that helps it to be offered in a seven-seat version.
The powertrain is available in two types: the basic one includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, and the second one is a more powerful 3.0-liter V6 super turbocharged engine. The nine-speed automatic gearbox is standard for both versions.
