The updated version of the Audi Q7
The popular SUV Audi Q7 is ready to be updated. The car manufacturer plans to finish development by the end of this year to introduce the updated version as a car of 2015 model year.
Audi wanted to present its renewed Q7 this year but, last year the SUV got many new upgrades.
The renewed Q7 is built on the new MLB Evo platform developed by the Volkswagen Group. This next generation of the platform includes lightweight multi-material construction.
The MLB Evo platform is planned to be also used in electrical and plug-in hybrid models. In addition, the Volkswagen Group uses the same platform in production “big” cars such as the Volkswagen Touareg, the next generation of Porsche Cayenne, Lamborghini Urus and, certainly, the Bentley SUV as well.
Due to using lightweight materials like aluminum and carbon fiber in the vehicle’s construction, the auto manufacturer have been able to lower the SUV’s weight by more than 650 pounds. The lightweight novelty will have the weight only 5,300 pounds.
The Q7 comes on the market with the 3.0-liter TFSI engine, 4.0-liter TFSI engine and the 3.0-liter TDI engine. According to the carmaker, the updated Q7 will be available in a plug-in hybrid variant. The U.S. buyers may be offered with a diesel-electric variant of this SUV.
Moreover, we have noticed the quad-exhaust pipe that confirms about the performance version too.
The official debut of the renewed Q7 is planned at the show in Los Angeles next month or in Paris in October.
