Volkswagen is preparing to present its Golf GTE hybrid at the auto show in Geneva next month.
As you may remember, the Volkswagen manufacturer launched the Golf GTI, later there was the GTD model equipped with a diesel engine. Now finally, we have a great opportunity to see a new Golf version of Volkswagen; this time the carmaker is ready to introduce the Golf GTE.
As you may guess, this novelty is the Golf car but equipped with a hybrid powertrain.
We will see the electric model at the show in Geneva, which takes place at the beginning of March.
You should not consider that the novelty is a new E-Golf, driving by a battery power. Because it is not true. The renewed Golf is a common car, equipped with a combined powertrain includes an engine with internal combustion and the electric motor.
According to the official statement of the carmaker, this version of updated Golf car is not planned to sell in the American auto markets.
Owing to this combination of the internal combustion engine and the electric motor, this novelty is available to accelerate from 0 mph to 62 mph in just 7.6 seconds. The maximum speed is 135 mph.
The car may drive about 31 miles electricity powered only.
This Volkswagen’s novelty may be a rival of the Audi A3 sport back hybrid because the same rates of a powertrain.
Both cars are equipped with the 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and the electric motor; this powertrain has the output of 201 horsepower and the torque of 258 lb-ft.
Most likely, the carmaker will equip the car with a six-speed DSG gearbox with dual-clutch and the all-wheel-drive.
The e-novelty gets not only the plug-in hybrid powertrain but also some changes in the exterior such as updated more aerodynamic wheels, new daytime running lights and some blue accents of painting body.
The renewed interior of the novelty includes the well-known brand’s style and some modern technical features such as the e-manager controls charging and departure time, driving range monitor, emission statistics, the green cars’ display of flowing energy and other options and systems which are available in most modern green cars and common vehicles, equipped with the internal combustion engines.
