2014 Audi A6 Reviews
We are used to automakers giving pumped up versions of the cars to us to test drive, with strong engines and enormous lists of optional gear. With its foundation 220-hp engine and plain Jane look, the A6 2.0T I examined wasn't one of those. With all-wheel drive, a Premium Plus bundle and several miscellaneous choices, my variant's $53,845 as-tested cost concentrated most of the discretionary gear of the A6 inside the high quality and well appointed cottage. The A6 begins at $43,995 (all costs include address).
The A6 I examined will not be mistaken with the optional sport suspension it featured, even for a sports sedan. Sedans toward the dynamic side of the section Lexus GS 350 or 2014 Cadillac CTS skew; compare the A6 here. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is certainly one of the most used compare it here.
Outside & Styling
Audi's sedans share enough layout similarities that it is difficult to differentiate the A6 from the smaller A3, all of which take inspiration in the A8 from the less-pricey and smaller A4, and the A4. All are definitely sedans that are appealing, but none is especially loud. Competitions like GS 350, the E Class and CTS have curves, flash and competitive exterior styling, while the A6 has a businesslike, straightlaced look. Needless to say, personal taste will determine which way.
Our $53,845 A6 did not stand out in any special manner, even with the "updated" 19-inch wheels that still seemed to have an entry level finish. The $500 Moonlight Blue Metallic paint choice additionally did not stand out as an excellent method to spend $500. Every paint colour except grayscale prices $500.
It Drives
On paper, the 220-hp evaluation seems diminutive. Astonishingly, it is not. Audi's small four-cylinder engine transfers the almost 4,000-pound A6 wheezing from under the hood or without any striving. The transmission leverages the power and torque well, making a level spot of acceleration just off the line, where it takes the turbocharged engine a split second of the engine. The A6's four-cylinder will not ever be mistaken for a six-cylinder engine, which is what is offered in the livelier-quickening Lexus GS 350 with all-wheel drive; there you will locate a more-strong 306-hp V6 standard for $50,860.
The A6 2.0T's low hp rating does not mean you are exempt from using premium gas, which is the engine's preferable fuel. Both of those automobiles also get electricity and their greatest economy with premium fuel.
The narrative that is powerful here is the A6's accessible 310-hp, supercharged V6 that endures just a 1 mpg ding in standings that are combined (18/27/22 mpg) versus the four-cylinder, while offering a great deal more impact. Stepping to the 3.0T V-6 is a remarkable jump in cost, though, because the V6 is accessible just in the higher-optioned Premium Plus trimming, beginning at $55,995. Premium Plus versions add navigation, front and back parking aid with a backup camera, upgraded wheels and a motorist information system. However, the V6 is a no brainer choice and increased power, if you're able to swing the price increase.
A fit, agile encounter is provided by the Sport Package without killing your back along the way, despite the fact that it may not possess exact steering feel or the tenacity of Cadillac CTS or a BMW 5 Series. The A6's suspensor pairs with the back of Audi -biased Quattro all-wheel drive (40/60 torque split, front/back), which shows its secret sporty driving nature just on favored s-curves coming home. Stoplight -to-stoplight driving is totally cozy quality as-equipped. The A6 at highway speeds is an incredibly assured machine even.
Inside
The insides of Audi are always the cream of the crop in each section, and the A6 isn't any exception. It is on the interior where Audi gets creative with technology, ambient lighting and fascinating materials.
Interior addons within my examiner contain the Premium Plus the navigation and parking system of trim degree, Bose sound system, blind spot warning system, updated steering wheel in the sport bundle, which's it. The Nougat Brown interior and incredibly attractive Fine Grain Ash inlays that are natural are no-price trimmings. The Ash's observable pores make the wood seem dwelling, despite the fact that it is plastered on the interior.
Front seat comfort is special soaking up any road imperfections the suspensor missed; heated front seats at the moment are normal for 2014.
Freight & Storage
The luggage compartment of the A6 is more suitable for the size in relation to the backseat of the automobile. Still, two golf bags easily are swallowed by the A6. Up front, there is sufficient storage for cupholders, along with telephones and music players in the storage cubby.
Electronics Ergonomics
A retractable 7-inch navigation display is among those show off characteristics that shouts "luxury car."
The A6 lacks an USB port that is simple and contains a proprietary iPod wire with the older 30-pin connector. USB adapter cables can be found, but it is not convenient when $15,000 subcompact cars contain an USB port standard.
The result is an actual airborne view of your course, though it is not quite seamless. Maybe the substitution to some more rapid 4G LTE wireless network will increase the load times that are offputting. Audi's A3 introductions with 4G LTE connectivity, and Audi says it intends to raise that availability to all versions later on. At rates that are present, I wouldn't be quite tempted to subscribe after the six-month trial.
Security
The A6 earns the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's highest crash test evaluation of five total. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave its finest score, great, to the A6 in front, side, roof- head restraint and strength tests. The A6 has not gotten the more difficult little overlap front crash test of the institute.
A backup camera isn't a conventional safety feature on the foundation, Premium version for $43,995; Prestige trim degrees that begin at $48,295 and $58, 795 and it is contained in Premium Plus. Blind spot monitoring is a $600 standalone alternative, while adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning with automatic braking may also be not obligatory. See here.
Worth in Its Category
While it might not be a deal, this special trim amount would n't be called a rip off by me, either. High-End buyers is not going to be disappointed by the well appointed inside that oozes fashion of the A6. The A6 2.0T trim degree is a surprisingly well rounded high-end sedan with sufficient electricity that should keep most shoppers content with acceleration.
