Audi Q7 introduced at the Detroit auto show
This week at the show in Detroit, Audi has presented its new Q7, which is confirmed for the 2016 model year.
The car is based on the first iteration of the MLB Evo platform developed by the Volkswagen group, which was changed to a SUV version. The car’s structure has become lighter due to using of lightweight materials such as aluminum, which is used in doors, back and front parts, hood and front fenders.
The car has become shorter by 1.5 inches and narrower by 0.6 inches but inside, there are additional 0.8 inches between two first seating rows; the height of the cabin is also increased by 1.6 inches. But the third row of seats are still much more for small adults and children.
The novelty will be available with three powertrains. The basic variant is the 2.0-liter TFSI engine, which produces the output of 252 horsepower and the torque of 273 lb-ft. Next one the 3.0-liter TDI engine, which is able to produce the output of 272 horsepower and the torque of 443 lb-ft. And finally, the third powertrain is the 3.0-liter TFSI producing the power of 333 horsepower with 325 lb-ft. of the torque. The novelty is offered with the eight-speed S-tronic automatic gearbox.
For the U.S. auto market, the new Q7 will be equipped with the 3.0-liter TDI unit produces the output of 218 horsepower and the torque of 369 lb-ft. Moreover, the novelty will be also offered with the hybrid system, which will be able to produce the output of 373 horsepower and the torque of 516 lb-ft.
Meanwhile, according to the carmaker, the Q7 e-tron Quattro version will be a fastest version accelerating from 0 mph to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds; the maximum speed is 140 mph.
