Bentley will present the first plug-in-hybrid in three years according to CEO Wolfgang Schreiber during his presentation at the Moto Show in Detroit.
In addition Schreiber explained to reporters why the company was not going to produce diesel vehicles: “Our main markets such as China, the US and the Middle East don’t care about diesel it’s only really popular in Europe and not even the whole of Europe.
According to the top manager that it might actually be too late for diesel because now plug-in hybrids offered an even better fuel economy and did not alienate petrol-only markets.
At the Detroit Moto Show Bentley introduced a model Continental GT Speed Convertible, positioned as the fastest four-seat drop-top in the world. The new vehicle is equipped with twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine issuing 625 horsepower (800 Nm) and the eight-speed automatic gearbox ZF. The cabriolet accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and its
top speed is 325 km/h.
