Daihatsu prepares its new concepts for the auto show in Tokyo
Daihatsu is one of the Japanese auto manufacturer, which is not as popular as its well-known local colleague is. Daihatsu vehicles were not much sold in the United States before; but now the carmaker plans to change this situation to introduce new Kopen concepts at the show in Tokyo this November.
You may know the Daihatsu Copen that is being sold at the present time in Japan. This car is convertible and attractive owing to its specific dimensions. The carmaker considers replacing the current Copen by the future Kopen, which is planned to come to production.
The concepts are more aggressive than the present Copen cars. The Kopen looks like a Toyota GT86 with some Hyundai’s elements in design.
New concepts of Daihatsu are build according to all Japanese requirements concerning to reduce traffic congestion. That is why the Kopens have the following dimensions of the body: the car length is 11.2 feet, the width is 4.9 feet and the height is 4.2 feet.
All concepts will be equipped with a 0.66-liter three-cylinder engine and the CVT gearbox. There is no information about the power and torque, unfortunately.
The Daihatsu brand is introducing its kei-concepts including a mini truck –the FC-Deck soon; there will be also he Honda S660 concept at the Tokyo motor show.
We have to be patient because this show starts on November 22, where we will know all details.
